Ronda is a town built around a hole in the ground, and the best way to take that in is on foot, slowly, so the gorge keeps reappearing between buildings when you least expect it. A short walk links the bullring, a bronze bull and bust, and the viewpoints either side of the Puente Nuevo, the bridge that has held the town together since 1793. None of this makes sense from a bus window; you need to stand at the edge of El Tajo and look down.
