About
Every city has someone who could show you round. Most of them are dead.
Walk & Tell is a set of free self-guided audio walks. You put in headphones and someone from that city’s own past walks you through it — the sultan who rebuilt it, the vizir who fell, the bishop who ordered the caves cut. There is no app to install, nothing to book, and nothing to pay.
Where it came from
It started with the two of us, on a morning we had saved up for. We were standing in a city we might never see again, holding a phone, scrolling a list of the fifteen best restaurants near us. The guided tours left at ten, cost more than the room, and moved at the pace of whoever was slowest. What we wanted was someone to tell us what we were looking at — at our own pace, without booking anything the night before. Nobody was selling that, so we made it, one city at a time, starting with the ones we had walked ourselves.
Where the history comes from
Each walk is led by a real, documented person who lived and died before 1950 and who has an actual connection to the streets you are standing in — not a mascot, and not an invented character.
What’s the catch
There isn’t one yet. The walks are free, they work offline once loaded, and your guest doesn’t need an account to listen. We are not selling your data and there is nothing to subscribe to. One day some of this may cost money; the walks a host has given their guests will not be the part that does.
